Maurice Lucas: All-Star and Business Leader

Maurice was warmly regarded as “The Enforcer” during his NBA days.

Maurice Lucas played for Al McGuire at Marquette University, where he was an All-American in 1972, 1973 and 1974. He also represented the U.S. at the World University Games in Moscow during his collegiate career.

A five-time All-Star in the ABA/NBA, Maurice helped lead the Portland Trail Blazers to the 1977 World Championship. He served as the Vice President of the NBA Players Association for eight years, and currently serves as a Board member of the NBA Retired Players Association.

Since leaving the NBA, Maurice has founded successful business ventures including the Lucas Travel Planners and ML Sports, which focuses on event planning and management. Maurice is also the National Sales Manager of Eid Access, Inc., headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon.

Maurice became personally involved with Legacy Emanuel Children’s Hospital when his daughter, Kristin, was born there weighing only one-pound, six-ounces. She received two months of vital care at the hospital’s Neonatal Special Care Unit and is a healthy, thriving teenager today.
